As a textile artist, I work with many different techniques including embroidery. It is the combination of needlework, painting and collage which makes my work distinctive. In the past I often used " ready made" materials but now I produce almost everything myself from hand made papers and felt to batik and dyed fabrics. For several years now I have employed a framing technique, whereby layers of painted papers are applied to the mount so that the viewer is drawn into the picture via the continuity between the surrounding frame and the embroidery. This development has been a gradual process for me, a return, perhaps to my roots as a painter.
